What did Piqué say about Shakira’s Fallon appearance with Bizarrap?

Speaking to Catalan radio on Tuesday, ex-Barcelona star Gerard Piqué was asked about his former partner’s appearance on the ‘Tonight Show’.

Shakira references tax troubles in Piqué music session

Speaking to Catalan radio station RAC1 on Tuesday, Gerard Piqué discussed the latest in the world of soccer - and the all-out war currently raging between him and Shakira, his former partner.

During the interview, Piqué was asked about the Colombian singer’s recent appearance on comedian Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’, one of the most-watched TV programmes in the US.

“We all make our own decisions”

Invited onto the show alongside Argentinian artist Bizarrap, Shakira discussed - and performed - the hit diss track BZRP Music Sessions #53, which has broken a number of world records. Recorded with Bizarrap, the song sees the 46-year-old take aim at Piqué and his current girlfriend, Clara Chía.

“I don’t want to talk about that,” Piqué said. “We have a responsibility, those of us who are parents, to protect our children. We all make our own decisions.”

Piqué defiant on Milan live stream appearance

Piqué also touched on a recent episode that drew Shakira’s ire: his decision to include the former couple’s older son, 10-year-old Milan, in a live video chat aired as part of the Kings League, a new soccer tournament organised by the ex-Barcelona defender. During the live stream, the participants talked about topics that were less than suitable for youngsters.

I only want my kids to be happy,” Piqué said. “I’ve always had a close relationship with my kids, and he asked me if he could appear on the Kings League [live stream]. It was something he really wanted to do. Nothing makes me happier than to see a smile on my kid’s face.

I’d do it again. He acts older than he actually is. We all make the decisions that we think best. I do things one way, I try to do the best I can.”
