What is América’s away record in Liga MX games against Monterrey?
Apertura 2023 leaders América visit the Estadio BBVA this weekend to face Rayados - and Las Águilas’ previous results in Monterrey do not bode well for them.
Club América do not have a good away record against Monterrey, who they visit in a big-name Liga MX clash this weekend.
América set for reunion with Rayados’ Ortiz
América head to the Estadio BBVA on matchday 14 of the Apertura 2023 regular season, in their first meeting with Monterrey since the league leaders’ former head coach, Fernando Ortiz, took over at Rayados.
Third-placed Monterrey go into the clash sitting seven points behind the visitors, albeit they have played one game fewer.
Águilas on run of defeats at Monterrey
América are unbeaten in their last 10 road games in the Liga MX, but André Jardine’s men now face an away assignment against a team that has won the sides’ past three league meetings in Monterrey.
What’s more, América have managed just one victory in their last seven Liga MX visits to the Estadio BBVA.
When did América last win at Rayados?
Las Águilas’ most recent triumph on their travels against Rayados came in February 2020, when Luis Fuentes’ first-half goal gave the 13-time Mexican champions a 1-0 win in the Clausura 2020 regular season.
In all, América have only nine wins to their name from their 33 away league clashes with Monterrey since the Liga MX adopted the short-tournament format in 1996.
