What is Inter Miami’s valuation? Which Premier League teams are The Herons more valuable than?
The Herons are already one of the world’s 20 most valuable soccer clubs, boosted by Lionel Messi’s arrival.
Inter Miami have been seen as one of the favourites to lift the 2024 MLS Cup since before a ball was kicked in the new season. There is a long, long way to go, but Lionel Messi’s side started on the right foot by defeating Real Salt Lake on opening night on Wednesday.
Inter Miami’s huge growth since Messi’s arrival
While The Herons will hope to go from strength to strength on the field, they continue to grow at a rapid rate off it, garnering a huge amount of media attention around the world since Argentina captain Messi joined in July last year.
After beginning the season with a win over RSL, it was announced that Inter Miami’s valuation had risen to $1.03 billion dollars, a growth of 72% compared to 2023, when it was valued at $600 billion.
According to Forbes, and as highlighted by sports business journalist Joe Pompliano on social media platform X, Inter Miami expect their 2024 revenue to be in excess of $200 million.
Premier League clubs unable to match Inter Miami
By being valued at over $1 billion, Inter Miami continues to climb the table of the world’s most valuable soccer clubs. The Floridians, who were only founded in 2018 and didn’t start competing in MLS until 2020, already feature in the top 20, ahead of established teams from some of the top leagues across the globe, including the Premier League.
Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Ham, who have competed well in European competitions this season and have had some domestic success, are among the historic, stand-out names The Herons are now mixing with and surpassing.
In Forbes’ most recent breakdown of the most valuable clubs in world soccer, West Ham were in 15th place at $1.08 billion. However, The Hammers’ valuation is estimated to have dropped at the start of 2024, with Inter Miami likely already ahead of them.
Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton, three of the bigger clubs in the Premier League, were all valued between $600 million and $1 billion, but none have come close to matching the speed of the MLS team’s growth.
