The kick-off of MLS 2024 will arrive with the clash between Inter Miami and Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, February 21 at the newly named Chase Stadium (8pm ET / 5pm PT).

Formerly known as DRV PNK Stadium, the ground will host what will be a season of promise for Gerardo Martino’s team. Last season they struggled and, although they managed to win the first title in their history with Leagues Cup, in MLS they failed to even make the playoffs.

With Messi and Luis Suárez leading the attack, looking to emulate what they once did with Barcelona, the duo have the mission of taking The Herons to the top of US soccer.

How many seats were added with the stadium increase?

The euphoria of ‘Messimania’, along with being able to see Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba at home, caused Inter Miami to sell out their season tickets, however, the former DRV PNK Stadium announced that they would increase its capacity just for the start of the 2024 MLS season.

With the renovations, Chase Stadium went from a capacity of 19,100 to 21,550, so more people will be able to witness how Inter Miami fares on home turf. Among the changes that were made to expand the space were the southwest corner and increased capacity in the northeast and southeast corners.

Messi and co. are going all-out for every title possible this season, despite knowing the difficult road that separates them between now and potentially winning MLS Cup. First, they must improve on their domestic league season, which started brightly before fading out; secondly, they must navigate the waters of playing the top teams from the opposing conference.

Left-back Jordi Alba recently spoke to the press ahead of the season’s start, saying that “we are convinced that we can win titles and that we can continue to learn from the players who have been here longer in MLS and in our experience be able to help the younger players. It’s clear that we have won a lot of titles, but we want to keep winning and competing: we always have and always will”.
