Pachuca’s ‘Los Tuzos’ are very much in control of the Liga MX 2022 Apertura final after a comprehensive 1-5 win away at the Estadio Nemesio Diez on Thursday night where the visitors made giant steps in seeking to claim their seventh Liga MX title after a first half blitz that saw the away side 0-4 ahead at the interval.

Despite a brief late rally from the home side, Pachuca made it 0-5 with Ibañez adding to the tally before Jordan Sierra bagged a consolation goal for the ‘Red Devils’. Things could have been different going into the second leg had Leo Fernandez converted an added time penalty kick but his effort was saved and Toluca now face an almost impossible task tonight.

Both managers go into the second leg with a full squad to pick from with the only exception being Toluca’s Luis Garcia who remains out of action as he recovers from a broken arm which he sustained playing with the Toluca ‘B’ team.

Pachuca predicted starting XI

Óscar Ustari, Kevin Álvarez, Gabriel Cabral, Óscar Murillo, Mauricio Isais; Luis Chávez, Érick Sánchez; Paulino, Víctor Guzmán, Romario Ibarra and Nico Ibáñez.

Toluca predicted starting XI

Tiago Volpi; Andrés Mosquera, Haret Ortega, Valver Huerta, Carlos Guzmán; Leonardo Fernandez, Claudio Baeza, Marcel Ruiz, Jean Meneses; Camilo Sanvezzo, Carlos Gonzalez.
