The 2022 World Cup provided us with some great goals. The first that comes to my mind is Luis Cháves’ free-kick that flew into the top corner from over 30 yards out for Mexico against Saudi Arabia.

Chávez’s rocket wasn’t enough for Mexico as they failed to advance from Group C as eventual winners Argentina and Poland progressed to the last 16 in Qatar.

Fifa have confirmed that the Goal of the Tournament was Richarlison’s spectacular bicycle kick in Brazil’s 2-0 group stage World Cup win over Serbia.

Mbappé volley

Among the other super strikes was Kylian Mbappé's superb volley in the World Cup final against Argentina as France made their way back into the game in the second half.

The Netherlands also surprised Argentina in the quarter-finals with a goal from a free-kick straight off the training ground to take the game to extra time.

Argentina’s second goal against France in the final was a thing of beauty, with sublime one-touch passing throughout before Ángel Di María tapped home at the back post to double his team’s lead.

Richarlison was distraught after Brazil were eliminated but now has the small consolation of scoring the best goal of the 2022 World Cup.
