The rumors were true. Lionel Messi will play in the MLS with Inter Miami, ending speculation that the Argentine would make a return to Barcelona.

A few days ago it was announced that if Messi’s signing with Inter Miami is confirmed, his debut with the South Florida squad could be on 21 July in the duel against Cruz Azul.

The arrival of Messi generates is partly due to the MLS and its sponsors, including Apple and Adidas, prepared a specific plan to ensure the signing of the Argentine star to the ranks of David Beckham’s franchise in the United States.

This is how Inter Miami would line up after the arrival of Lionel Messi

After the dismissal of Phil Neville as head coach last week, the team continues to search for a technical director. Gerardo “El Tata” Martino one of the options due to his good relationship with Messi.

Inter Miami are currently bottom of the Eastern Conference with 16 games played. However, with half of the normal season to play there is still a chance they can reach the play-offs, especially with a player of Messi’s calibre in the team.

Taking the 4-2-3-1 system that Inter Miami currently uses, this is how the team could shape up with Lionel Messi on the pitch.
