Matchdays one and two of Euro 2024 qualifying are over and done with, with 39 of the 53 teams taking part having played their first two group matches. The likes of France and England have laid down a marker in heavyweight clashes against the Netherlands and Italy respectively, while Scotland have provided us with the biggest surprise so far, topping Group A ahead of Spain, who they beat in Glasgow, and Norway, who struggled without the injured Erling Haaland in their first two games.

How many qualifying games does each country play?

There are 10 qualifying groups, with Groups A through to G each containing five nations who face each other home and away, which means they play a total of eight matches. Groups H, I and J, meanwhile, have six teams who meet twice for a total of 10 games.

When are the next Euro 2024 qualifying matches?

Like matchdays one and two, matchdays three and four will take place back-to-back in a double-header in June. More specifically, matchday three will take place on 16-17 June 2023, with matchday four following on 19-20 June.

As was the case in March, some nations in the five-team groups will play two games, with others playing just once. Another complication of the fixtures in June is that they will take place in the same week as the 2023 UEFA Nations League Finals, with hosts the Netherlands, Croatia, Spain and Italy all taking part. That means that none of those four countries will play any qualifying games in June, but because they were drawn in five-team groups, they won’t fall behind in qualification.

When are the 2023 UEFA Nations League Finals?

The UEFA Nations League semi-finals will be played on 14-15 June, the two days the precede matchday three of Euro 2024 qualification, while the final will be held on 18 June, between matchdays three and four.
