When did Joan Laporta hire Enriquez Negreira?

The relationship between Barcelona and Enriquez Negreira dates back to 2001 when, then-president Joan Gaspart, reached out to the at the time vice president of referees in Spain. However, there are allegations that the actual friendship between the two began when Jose Luiz Núñez was president of the club. Nonetheless, the Spanish government hasn’t found any evidence of that.

In 2003 Joan Laporta became president of the club in his first spell at the club. When he took charge of the team, he pledged to get rid of everything Gaspart had done at the club. Seeing that Gaspart left before his presidency was under heavy criticism and corruption charges. But, oddly enough, Gaspart parted ways with Negreira before he left his presidency. And it is Joan Laporta who then again began contact with Negreira.

When did Joan Laporta and Barcelona begin contact with Negreira?

According to Football Leaks Joan Laporta began payments to Negreira’s company Dasnil 95 in the 05/06 season. This is two years after he became president of the club. This means that Negreira and Barcelona had cut all ties for two years, just before Gaspart left the club and Laporta took charge.

Laporta has not addressed this issue, or any of the allegations against the club other than saying that they will get to the bottom of this situation. However, the court has accepted the accusation made by the prosecutor’s office, and the case has since been moved to Madrid’s special agency for corruption.
