When does the Liga MX resume? Week 4 and 5 Apertura 2023 fixtures and dates
The Liga MX has been on hold since mid-July for the Leagues Cup. Just two Mexican teams are left in the international tournament with the quarter finals taking place this weekend.
With 16 of 18 teams eliminated from the Leagues Cup, the Liga MX is set to resume on the weekend of 18 August with fixtures corresponding to Week 4. The Mexican league will get underway with the 16 clubs who are no longer taking part in the Leagues Cup and therefore, won’t be affected by the tournament’s scheduling with the final and match for third place due to take place on Saturday 19 August.
So the Liga MX returns, bringing an end to the break which began in mid-July. Getting the action back underway will be León vs Mazatlán which will be the first if four games to be played on Friday 18 August, those matches corresponding to Week 4. The Liga MX has announced dates and kick-off times for Weeks 4 and 5 for all teams, except Monterrey and Querétaro, who are still competing in the Leagues Cup, with their quarter final ties taking place this evening (Friday 11 August).
“The matches: Rayados de Monterrey vs. Tijuana and Gallos Blancos vs. Pachuca, corresponding to Matchday 4, as well as Gallos Blancos vs. Atlas and Toluca vs. Rayados de Monterrey, corresponding to Matchday 5, will be scheduled at the end of their participation in the Leagues Cup 2023 Tournament,” a Liga MX statement read.
Matchday 4 will take place on August 18 and 20 but no matches have been scheduled on Saturday 19 August as the attention will be focused on the Leagues Cup - the final and match for third place will take place on that day.
Meanwhile, Week 5 fixtures will be played mid-week starting on Tuesday 22 August.
