Los Angeles FC and Chivas Guadalajara have been drawn together in a heavyweight phase-one Leagues Cup matchup, as both clubs chase their first trophy triumph in the North American inter-league tournament.

When do LAFC and Chivas meet in the 2026 Leagues Cup?

In Thursday’s draw for the opening round of the 2026 League Cup, LAFC and Chivas were handed a matchday-one clash on Wednesday, August 5, with the Major League Soccer team hosting the game at BMO Stadium. The kickoff time in in Los Angeles, California is still to be confirmed.

How can I watch LAFC vs Chivas?

You can watch the Black and Gold take on Los Rojiblancos on the subscription streaming service Apple TV, which will be showing every game in the 2026 Leagues Cup.

According to the tournament’s organizers, “select matches” will also be broadcast in the U.S. by TelevisaUnivision and FOX Sports. It is yet to confirmed whether LAFC vs Chivas will be one of these games.

What are LAFC and Chivas’s other Leagues Cup phase-one games?

Scheduled to run from August 4 to September 6, this year’s Leagues Cup will, as in 2025, feature 36 teams - 18 from MLS, 18 from Liga MX. Each club will play three games in the opening league phase, in which an MLS team will be pitted against a Liga MX counterpart on each matchday.

At the end of the first round, the four top-performing teams from each of the two participating leagues will progress to a single-elimination knockout stage, with MLS and Liga MX clubs kept apart until the semifinals.

2022 MLS winners LAFC, who were beaten Leagues Cup finalists in 2024, face the following opening-round games:

  • August 5: Chivas, BMO Stadium
  • August 8: Toluca, BMO Stadium
  • August 12: Querétaro, BMO Stadium

Meanwhile, Chivas may be the second-most decorated club in Liga MX - with 12 domestic titles - but El Rebaño Sagrado is bidding to make it through to the Leagues Cup knockout phase for the first time.

In the 2026 league phase, Guadalajara’s schedule is:

  • August 5: LAFC, BMO Stadium
  • August 8: Dallas, TBC
  • August 12: Seattle, Lumen Field
