The manager Gerardo Martino spoke after the game and acknowledged the electric atmosphere in the stadium, emphasising that the outcome was inevitable given Messi’s prowess with free kicks.
Under the leadership of ‘Tata’, Miami kicked off their tournament journey with a crucial victory. Now, their ambition is to secure the top spot in the group as they prepare to face Atlanta United, who lost their opener 2-1 to Orlando, the former team of the Argentine boss.
This next Leagues Cup game is scheduled for Tuesday 25 June and again it will be on home turf. Going head-to-head against Atlanta will also be particularly significant for Josef Martínez, who, alongside Martino, previously clinched the title with the Georgia team in 2018 after defeating Portland.
