When is the final of the 2023 UEFA Nations League? Date, time and venue

Croatia were the first team to book their place in the 2023 UEFA Nations League final - Spain or Italy will join them.

UEFA HANDOUTEFE

Croatia secured a place in the 2023 UEFA Nations League final after beating the Netherlands 2-4 in Rotterdam on Wednesday. Bruno Petkovic put Zlatko Dalic’s men in front nine minutes into extra-time and captain Luka Modric put the game out of reach for the Netherlands by converting from the spot in the second period.

It will be just the second time that Croatia have appeared in a major final. They made it to the 2018 World Cup final in Russia, only to lose to France - the same rivals who denied them a place in the 1998 finals.

Facing Croatia in the Nations League final will be the winners of this evening’s clash between Spain and Italy at FC Twente Stadion. Spain ended as runners-up in the last edition with Italy taking third place. So it’s guaranteed that there will be a new name engraved onto the trophy this year.

The final

The 2023 UEFA Nations League final will be played at Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on Sunday 18 June 2023, kicking off at the local time of 20:45 hours CEST. For viewers in the United States, that’s 2:45 p.m. EDT / 11:45 PDT.

The venue

Stadion Feijenoord, which was constructed in the 1930s and inaugurated in March 1937, has hosted a number of major European finals during its 86-year history - notably the European Cup finals in 1972 and 1982. Known locally as De Kuip (The Tub), it last held a major final just over two decades ago when it witnessed Feyenoord lift the UEFA Cup in front of an ecstatic home crowd in May 2002 - the only time the trophy has been won on home turf during the single game-format era. At international level, it was selected to host the Euro 2000 final in which reigning world champions France, featuring Zidane, Thierry Henry, Trezeguet and Company, beat Italy.
