The first El Clásico of the 2022-23 season will be played on Sunday 16 October at the Santiago Bernabéu. Both teams have Champions League games scheduled in the days beforehand. On Tuesday 11 October, Madrid play in Poland against Shakhtar Donetsk, while Barcelona are at home to Inter Milan on Wednesday 12 October.

The fixture will be the first Clásico of the season. Last time out, Barcelona won 4-0 at the Bernabéu, in a game that Madrid played without Karim Benzema. Barcelona subsequently took advantage of the situation and broke a bad streak in the Clásicos as they had gone six without a win, suffering five consecutive losses.

Real Madrid top of the table

Madrid are currently top of the LaLiga standings with 18 points, having won all their games, while Barcelona are second with 16 points. Before the Clásico, Madrid will play Osasuna (at home) and Getafe (away), while Barcelona must travel to Mallorca and host Celta Vigo.

What time does El Clásico start?

El Clásico will start at 16.15 p.m. local time (CEST), that’s 10.15 a.m. ET and 7.15 a.m. PT on Sunday 16 October. It had already been leaked that the intention was for El Clásico to occupy this time slot in order to try to ensure that it is followed as widely as possible around the world.
