PACHUCA

When was Pachuca’s last Liga MX defeat at Estadio Hidalgo?

Another home victory against Toluca will move Pachuca to within two points of Liga MX leaders Monterrey in the Clausura 2023.

Taking three points home from Pachuca’s Estadio Hidalgo has become one of Mexican soccer’s toughest challenges. Guillermo Almada has turned Los Tuzos’ home ground into something of a fortress, with few teams able to claim that they have taken anything from Pachuca since the Uruguayan took charge of the club in December 2021.

The next side set to try their luck is Toluca, who were beaten by Sunday’s opponents in the Apertura 2022 final back in November, although Los Diablos Rojos won’t be particularly encouraged by Pachuca’s impressive unbeaten streak on their own patch. Ignacio Ambríz’s men have had a reasonably solid start to the season; they have lost just one of their opening six matches (to leaders Monterrey), but three draws have left them in mid-table, although they do have at least one game in hand over most of the teams above them.

How many matches have Pachuca gone unbeaten at Estadio Hidalgo?

Los Tuzos head into the 2023 Clausura matchday eight on a run of 11 matches without defeat in front of their own fans, which is made all the more impressive given that that sequence consisted of 10 victories and a draw. In fact, their last match at Estadio Hidalgo against Chivas, which finished 0-0, brought to an end a run of 10 home wins in a row.

Pachuca’s last defeat at their own ground came on matchday nine of the Apertura 2022, when they lost 3-0 against Club América in August 2022. Almada’s men have started the new campaign in fine form, having won five, drawn one and lost one of their seven Liga MX matches so far. Another victory against Toluca would see them move to within two points of leaders Monterrey
