Once again, the gods of football have failed to smile down on Cristiano Ronaldo and despite a solid personal showing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup final, a second half blitz from city rivals Al Hilal ended any dreams the Portuguese star had of collecting a winner’s medal.

The 39-year-old opened the scoring with a first half goal that had the Nassr fans dreaming of glory but their hopes were dashed as Jorge Jesús’ men bounced back in emphatic fashion to run out 4-1 winners.

With this latest setback, Cristiano ends up on the losing side and once again it’s the city neighbours Al Hilal who deny the veteran striker who has now gone over three years now without lifting an official title.

CR7 and Al Nassr did win the 2023 Arab Club Championship cup but despite the success, this is a competition that is not endorsed as an official title by the highest football body in global football (FIFA) with his Italian Cup win (back in 2021) with Juventus being the last time the striker won silverware.

When and what was Cristiano Ronaldo's last title?

The Italian Cup win over Atalanta in May 2021 was his most recent achievement with the Vecchia Signora although he also bagged the Serie A title in Italy in May of the same year, months before leaving Turin for Manchester to spend a second spell with the Old Trafford team, with whom he also failed to win any titles.

Now at Al Nassr, Cristiano has come close to tasting glory with his side finishing second in the Saudi Pro League (behind Al Hilal) and it’s been the ‘Blue Waves’ who have also proved to be Nassr’s recent nemesis winning the Saudi Arabian Super Cup and the Saudi Arabian King’s Cup.

The new Saudi Pro League campaign gets underway next week and both Al Nassr and Ronaldo will be hoping that it will be a case of third time lucky as the Madeira born player embarks on his third term with the Riyadh based side.
