LIGA MX
When was Tigres’ last win over Liga MX rivals Club América?
Tigres are on a terrible run of form against Club América, who they host in the Clausura 2023 in a box-office Liga MX match-up this weekend.
Tigres will be out to end a barren run against Club América when they host their fellow Mexican giants in a heavyweight Liga MX clash on Saturday.
Tigres on long losing streak against América
Los Felinos, who sit second in the Clausura 2023 regular-season table, have lost their last seven meetings with América, who head into this weekend’s game in sixth.
Tigres last avoided defeat against Las Águilas in November 2019, when Guido Pizarro and André-Pierre Gignac netted in a 2-1 victory in the Apertura 2019 quarter-finals.
No home wins over América since 2017
And Tigres’ home form against América is particularly bad: they haven’t beaten the 13-time Mexican champions at the Estadio Universitario in just over five years.
Their last victory over América on home turf came back in December 2017, when Enner Valencia’s double inspired a 3-0 triumph in the second leg of the Apertura 2017 semi-finals.
Gignac was also on the scoresheet as Tigres sealed a 4-0 aggregate win, before lifting their sixth Mexican title with victory over Monterrey in the final.
Since they last defeated América at El Volcán, Tigres have drawn two and lost four at home against Los Azulcremas.
