When will Guillermo Ochoa move to Serie A Salernitana?
The Mexican legend leaves Club America for the second time in his career.
With just 11 days left on his contract with Club America, Mexican veteran Guillermo Ochoa is reportedly due to undergo a medical at Salernitana in preparation for a transfer to Serie A.
Considering Luigi Sepe, Salernitana’s starting goalkeeper will be out injured for the month of January, the Mexican national team captain, known as “Memo” in his native country, is eligible for a free move to the Italian club.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Ochoa will have his physical on Thursday in preparation for his transfer to the Stadio Arechi.
Ochoa, born in Guadalajara, has played for America for the previous four seasons. This is his second spell with the team. Ochoa made his professional debut in 2003 and stayed with the squad for eight seasons before moving to Europe to play for Ligue 1 club Ajaccio in 2011. After that, Ochoa played for Malaga, Granada, and Standard Liege before returning to Club America in 2019.
Twelve-place Salernitana is ten points ahead of the relegation zone’s Cremonese and ten points behind Atalanta for the last European spot in Serie A.
Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has made 134 international games for Mexico’s national team, making him the sixth-most-capped player in the national team. Ochoa is a five-time World Cup participant and four-time Gold Cup victor. He started all three of Mexico’s matches in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
