When will Mbappé's presentation with Real Madrid be? Schedule and possible dates

Real Madrid are set to unveil Kylian Mbappé next month - or possibly later than that - after Los Blancos confirmed that the World Cup winner is to join the club on a free transfer.

Madrid today announced an agreement with Mbappé, who is out of contract this summer after opting against extending his stay at Paris Saint-Germain. Last month, the 25-year-old confirmed his intention to leave PSG after seven years with the Ligue 1 club.

In a statement on their official website, Madrid revealed that Mbappé is to sign for the newly crowned Spanish and European champions on a 5-year deal. It is believed that the France striker will earn a pre-tax salary of around €15 million a year in the Spanish capital.

When will Mbappé's Real Madrid unveiling be?

Mbappé's commitments with the France national team, coupled with a packed schedule of non-sporting events at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, mean he is likeliest to be unveiled at the club’s home stadium in mid-July at the earliest.

It seems very possible that we won’t know the exact date of Mbappé's presentation until only a few days before it takes place - and it is also feasible that it will end up being delayed until August.

Mbappé could be unavailable for a while

Mbappé has already joined up with the French squad for this summer’s European Championship, which begins on 14 June, three days before France play their first game the tournament, against Austria on 17 June. The Euro 2024 final is on 14 July - so if Les Bleus reach the trophy decider in Germany, the player will be on international duty for the next six weeks.

Any prospect of Mbappé briefly leaving the France camp to be unveiled in the coming days, before Euro 2024 gets underway, appears to be scuppered by the fact that he is technically still under contract at PSG until the end of June.

Bernabéu also has busy summer schedule

Meanwhile, there are a number of dates on which the Bernabéu will be unavailable for an Mbappé presentation.

Over the summer, the arena is due to stage a whole host of concerts and other events. And it’s worth remembering that the stadium won’t only be busy on the date of the events themselves: in the days before and after, the venue will be occupied with set-up and disassembly.

After singer Taylor Swift performed at the Bernabéu on 29 and 30 May, for example, workers had to race against the clock to get the stadium ready to host fans who watched Saturday’s Champions League final on giants screens inside the arena.

When do summer concerts allow for Mbappé presentation?

In July, the Mexican singer Luis Miguel is to hold two concerts at the Bernabéu on 6th and 7th. On 13 July, the stadium hosts La Velada del Año, a boxing event staged by the Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos - and then there is an apparent window for Madrid to present Mbappé.

An unveiling on 15 or 16 July would appear to fit into the Bernabéu summer schedule, before Colombian pop star Karol G plays a four-night run of shows beginning on 20 July.
