When will Ricardo Mohamed make his Pumas debut?
With Rafael Puente del Río’s departure, the Argentine coach has now taken command with the team in 16th place in the table.
Pumas are having a disastrous tournament. With just three wins, the team is stuck just two places off the foot of the table following results that led to the sacking of coach Rafael Puente del Río. Just days before Week 13 of the Clasura 2023, the club confirmed the arrival of the Argentine Antonio Mohamed who will take the reins with five games of the regular season left to play.
In his official presentation to the media, El Turco made it clear that he is motivated and happy to take on the challenge of trying to return the Auriazules to the upper half of the standings. The former América coach will begin preparing for this weekend’s clash with Querétaro, however, he will not be on the bench for that game as he is due to return to Argentina for personal commitments.
Mohamed will make his debut with Pumas in Week 14 when his side take on Atlético San Luis at Estadio Olímpico Universitario. That game is scheduled for Sunday 9 April.
Pumas hoping to make the playoffs
Currently, the Auriazules are 16th in the table with 11 points - but only one point behind Atlas, the team that occupies 12th place, the final playoff place. The schedule looks complicated for Pumas, as they will face Querétaro, Atlético San Luis, Toluca, América and Rayados de Monterrey needing results from as many of those games as possible if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the Liguilla.
