Where are LaLiga revelation side Girona’s players from?

As LaLiga reaches the halfway point of the 2023-24 season, it’s not FC Barcelona or Atletico Madrid that are challenging Real Madrid at the summit of the table but Girona FC.

A dramatic late winner against Atletico at Montilivi as part of a 4-3 on Wednesday night saw Michel’s men draw level with Real Madrid on 48 points at the top of the table with Los Blancos beating Mallorca (1-0) earlier in the evening.

Girona have been generating headlines across the world with the small club (who form part of the City Group) battling the traditional big guns of Spanish football playing a wonderful brand of football under the tutelage of Vallecas native Michel.

Striker Artem Dovbyk is the team’s main goal scorer having bagged 11 this season in LaLiga with the Ukrainian the fourth top scorer in the domestic overall ranking.

Other players however have been instrumental in chipping with key goals in the season so far with Uruguayan striker Stuani on six, Savinho Moreira de Oliveira (5) with Herrera and Martin having netted four a-piece.

Argentine Paulo Gazzaniga has been an ever present for the Catalan’s this season in goal and the former Rayo and Spurs stopper is is able assisted in defensive duties by the likes of Eric García, Daley Blind, Miguel Gutiérrez and Arnau Martínez.
