Club América continue their charge in the Liga MX Clausura 2023, and this is reflected in their depleted squad for the upcoming international break, in which various managers have picked up players from Las Águilas for the March fixtures. On this occasion, nine players from the squad will not be available for the games against Santos Laguna and Tijuana.

The Mexican National Team manager, Diego Cocca, has called up Henry Martín, Néstor Araujo and Israel Rreyes for the side, while Alejandro Zendejas joins up with the USMNT who will play against Granada and El Salvador.

More South American call-ups

Jonathan Cabecita Rodríguez and Sebastián Cáceres - who got the call after the news that FC Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araújo is injured - have joined up with the Uruguay squad. The number of América players out on international duty could have been 10 had Brian Rodríguez made it off the Uruguay pre-list and into the final squad list, but a muscle injury has left him out of Marcelo Broli’s squad.

Club América to play 2 friendly games

Meanwhile, Diego Valdés was called up for Chile, and Pedro Aquino flew to Spain to meet up with the Peru National Team that will take on Germany and Morocco; Richard Santos has also been called up for Paraguay.

Ortíz’s side will play two friendlies: one against Santos (Thursday 23 March 2023, Dignity Health Sports Park, home of LA Galaxy) and one against Tijuana (Sunday 26 March 2023, San Diego, California).
