Which Inter Miami players have been called up for international duty in October?
Five players from the Fort Lauderdale franchise have been called up by their respective national teams for this month’s international games.
Inter Miami are enjoying a superb end to the MLS regular season. Tata Martino’s side have been the most dominant in the league, picked up the Supporters Shield to prove it and are on the cusp of setting a new competition points record.
Much of that success has been down to the great individual performance of the franchise’s stars players, many of whom have been called by their respective national teams for this month’s international fixtures.
In the second week of October, the domestic league will take a break as part of FIFA’s international match calendar. A total of five Inter Miami players have been called up by their respective national teams to play in CONMEBOL qualifiers, CONCACAF Nations League and the UEFA Nations League games, or international friendlies.
Lionel Messi back with Argentina
Lionel Messi will be heading off to join up with the Argentina squad. The captain was rested for the Albicelestes’ last two games (2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia) as he was only just back from injury. But he is expected to gain his 188th cap as the reigning world champions take on Venezuela in Maturín on 10 October and Bolivia five days later in Buenos Aires.
The games correspond to matchdays 9 and 10 of the South American 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Argentina top the CONMEBOL standings with 18 points - two points clear of Colombia with the top six teams qualifying for the tournament.
Inter Miami’s internationals in action in October
Diego Gómez received a call-up from Paraguay. The midfielder scored the team’s goal that gave them a 1-0 victory over Brazil last month has been gradually demonstrating his importance to the Albirroja. He will be up against his club teammate Leo Campana when Ecuador and Paraguay face each other on October 10. Five days later, he will be in action against Venezuela.
Paraguay sit seventh in the standings, just outside the qualifying positions while Ecuador are fourth on 11 points.
Apart from Ecuador’s clash with Paraguay, Leo Campana’s commitments also include the matchday 10 qualifier against Uruguay in Montevideo.
David Ruiz will also travel with Honduras to face French Guiana and Jamaica in this next FIFA date in the Concacaf Nations League. The Honduran is on a streak of three goals in the last three matches with his national team.
And last but least, Benjamin Cremaschi received the call from the USMYNT Under-20s. He’ll be part of the training camp for friendlies that will be held in Chile, the country that will host the World Cup in this category. The Stars and Stripes youth team will hold its friendlies on October 12 and 15. Both matches will be played at Complejo Deportivo Quilin, Chile’s national training center.
Cremaschi was the youngest player with the US squad at this summer’s Olympic Games. He appeared in two matches as the USA advanced from the group stage for just the second time since the current format was introduced in 1960.
