Who are the Mexicans who could become champions in Europe this season?
Here are the Mexicans across Europe who could be crowned Champions in the 22/23 season.
A handful of Mexican footballers are having an excellent season with their European clubs, and one last push during the crucial part of the championship, could see them have a good chance of lifting a league title.
Currently, ‘Chucky’ Lozano, Santiago Giménez, Edson Álvarez, Jorge Sánchez, Orbelín Pineda and Gerardo Arteaga are the players who, together with their clubs, are playing well in their respective leagues and two of them even have chances to be crowned at a continental level.
Of the aforementioned footballers, Hirving Lozano is the one who is most on track to be crowned in Serie A, since his Napoli are sweeping their way to the Serie A title and could win the Scudetto after a 33-year wait.
The Eredivisie players (Giménez, Sánchez and Álvarez) are still in the fight for the league title, as between Feyenoord and Ajax there is only a 3-point difference; any setback by one or another could be very costly.
Finally, although Orbelín and Arteaga play in lower-level leagues (Greece and Belgium), AEK Athens and Genk are in second and first place in their respective tables, and will surely keep up the good pace.
Could a Mexican player win a European title?
There are three Mexican players who are all still alive in the Champions League and Europa League. Napoli won the first leg of the round of 16 against Eintracht Frankfurt and are two goals ahead; Feyenoord will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League and Betis will face Manchester United in the same tournament. European titles are on the line, and Mexico could well have a winning representative.
