Pernille Harder is the undoubted start of the Denmark side at the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros and is highly regarded both on and off the field.

The Chelsea player won UEFA’s ‘The Best’ award in 2018 and 2020 and is the top scorer in Danish history with 69 goals in 136 games played. The striker is the main source of hope for Danish fans at the European Championship after her solitary goal against Finland offers the Danes the possibility of progressing to the next stage of the competition. A win over Spain for the Scandinavian side would secure a berth in the next stage of the competition and a tricky quarter-final match-up against host nation England.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Harder moved to Swedish side in 2012 Linköpings at the age of 18 where she scored 71 goals in 88 games. German giants Wolfsburg took notice of her and in the Frauen Bundesliga, the Dane established herself as a major star of the game where she won almost everything with the German side apart from the hallowed grail of the Champions League, where she ended up with a runners-up medal on two occasions. In 2020 she signed for Chelsea becoming the most expensive signing in the history of women’s football with the Londoners paying almost 300,000 euros to secure her signing. With the Blues she secured a league and cup double for both 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons but a Champions League winners medal still manages to evade the striker. Harder is a LGBT rights activist and has won more than 130 caps for the Danish national side.
