Who is Robert Dante Siboldi, the new coach at Tigres?
The Uruguayan will arrive for the remainder of the campaign and will debut on Thursday in the Concachampions against Motagua.
Although we await an official announcement, sources have informed AS that Robert Dante Siboldi will be appointed as the new coach of Tigres. This comes on the back of the dismissal of Marco Antonio Ruiz, with Siboldi being an experienced replacement for his Mexican colleague. The club’s board is expected to speak to the media on Monday to confirm the decision and present Siboldi as the new auriazul boss for the remainder of the campaign.
Robert Dante Siboldi for Tigres
Siboldi has had a successful career in Mexico, beginning as a goalkeeper for Atlas in 1989 and playing until 1992. He then played for Cruz Azul for a year (1993-94), followed by Puebla (1994-95), before finally joining Tigres, where he achieved his greatest and most notable successes in Mexican soccer. He played for them from 1995 to 1999, winning two First Division A titles (Winter 1996-Summer 1997), as well as the 1995-96 Copa México, in addition to the Promotion Champion in 1997 (after winning both competitions in the silver league).
As a coach, Siboldi began his career in the lower ranks of Cruz Azul before eventually joining the first team. He achieved success with Santos, being one of the ten coaches in Mexico to win a championship with the fewest managed games (29). His most recent role was with Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia. Here is a list of the clubs he has coached:
The experienced coach will make his debut on the university bench on Thursday in the second leg of the quarterfinals against Motagua in the Concachampions. Following that he will face up against Querétaro on Sunday.
