Who is the referee for Brazil vs Switzerland on World Cup 2022 Group G matchday two?

Brazil and Switzerland both have the chance to qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup when they face off at Stadium 974 on Monday.

Salvadoran referee Iván Barton will take charge of Brazil and Switzerland’s World Cup Group G clash on Monday - a game in which qualification for the last 16 is up for grabs.

Following Cameroon and Serbia’s 3-3 draw earlier in the day, the Brazilians and the Swiss can both guarantee their spot in the knockout stages with three points at Stadium 974.

Brazil began their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Serbia on Thursday, while Switzerland opened up with a 1-0 win against Cameroon.

Brazil vs Switzerland: the match officials

A FIFA international referee since 2018, Barton made his World Cup debut when he oversaw Japan’s shock 2-1 win over Germany in Group E on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old’s assistant referees for Brazil vs Switzerland will be David Morán, also from El Salvador, and Suriname’s Zachari Zeegelaar. The fourth official at Stadium 974 will be Honduran Said Martínez.

The video assistant referee (VAR) will be Canada’s Drew Fischer, and the assistant VAR will be Armando Villarreal of the United States. The offside VAR will be Kathryn Nesbitt, who is also American, and the support VAR will be Mexican Fernando Guerrero.

The World Cup 2022 Group G matchday-two game between Brazil and Switzerland will kick off at 11am ET/8am PT on Monday 28 November 2022.
