Who is the referee for the Croatia vs Morocco third place game in the World Cup 2022?

Croatia and Morocco both fell at the semi-final stage this week but still have something to play for at 2022 Qatar. They will be going head-to-head in the match for third place in Al Rayyan on Saturday. For Walid Regragui’s Morocco, the game represents a chance to underscore a memorable World Cup campaign. They have already made history by becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals, and now they have an opportunity to improve on that by securing bronze. Croatia’s best finish at the tournament was at Russia 2018 when they finished as runners-up.

Second appearance at Qatar 2022

This will be Al-Jassim’s second appearance at the tournament - he oversaw the Group B meeting between Wales and the United States on 21 November, producing six yellow cards during the course of the game.

At 35, Al-Jassim is one of the youngest referees at the Qatar World Cup. He has over a decade’s experience as a professional - he oversaw his first international match, a friendly between Jordan and Iran in February 2012. He also has officiated in several different countries including the Chinese Super League, the Swiss Challenge League as well as the Qatar Stars League.

Al-Jassim has whistled some high-profile matches including the 2019 Club World Cup final between Liverpool and Flamengo - one of four finals he has been in charge of.
