EURO 2024
Who plays today in Euro 2024? 14 June: games, times, TV, schedule
Host nation Germany will be hoping to get off to a strong start in Group A against underdogs Scotland in Munich.
A summer festival of international soccer gets underway today (Friday 14 June) with the first game of the 2024 European Championship in Germany, which will run through until Sunday 14 July. Europe’s 24 best national teams will compete to be crowned champions at the Olympiastadion in Berlin in a month’s time, with the host nation kicking off the tournament, as is customary.
Euro 2024 schedule on Friday 14 June
Germany will face Scotland in the opening match at the Allianz Arena (officially named Fußball Arena München in UEFA competitions) in Munich and will be keen to get off to a fast start to prove their credentials after disappointing performances in three successive major tournaments.
The Germans have won the Euros on three occasions, which makes them the joint most successful team in the history of the competition, along with Spain. However, their last triumph came 28 years ago, at Euro 96 in England.
The Scots, meanwhile, will be appearing in their second successive European Championship following a 25-year absence. They have been eliminated in the group stage at all 11 of the major tournaments they have previously qualified for (eight World Cups, three Euros) and will therefore be looking to make history by reaching the last 16 (although they did qualify for an eight-team tournament in 1992).
What time does Germany vs Scotland start?
The Euro 2024 Group A game between Germany and Scotland will be played on Friday 14 June 2024, at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET / 12 noon PT.
