Euro 2024 got underway with a bang on Friday (14 June), as host nation Germany took poor Scotland apart at Allianz Arena (or is it Fußball Arena München?) in Munich? Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz were the stars of the show in the opening game in Group A, which kicked off the summer festival of soccer. Starting on Saturday (15 June), there will be three Euro 2024 fixtures per day for seven of the next eight days, the exception being Tuesday 18 June, when two games will be played.

Hungary and Switzerland hope to challenge Germany

Group A was first to begin and will be first up again on Saturday as Hungary take on Switzerland at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne (kick-off at 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT). Both countries will have been handed a boost by Scotland’s poor showing in the opening game as they look to carve out a path to the round of 16.

Hungary qualified for the tournament as winners of qualifying Group G ahead of Serbia, while the Swiss were the runners-up to Romania in Group I.

Spain face Croatia in eye-catching clash

Group B will then get going with one of the most eye-catching matchups of the group stage as 2008 and 2012 champions Spain face 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Croatia at Olympiastadion in Berlin (kick-off at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT), which will host the final.

Spain qualified ahead of the Scots in qualifying Group A, with Croatia runners-up to Turkey in Group D.

Italy play Albania in “Group of Death”

Many believe Group B to be this year’s “Group of Death,” with Euro 2020 winners Italy also in the mix. They will take on underdogs Albania at Westfalenstadion in Dortmund in Saturday’s third and final game (kick-off at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT).

The Italians only qualified for the tournament directly by virtue of having a better goal difference than Ukraine, with England comfortably winning qualifying Group C. Albania surprisingly topped Group E ahead of the Czech Republic and Poland, who did both eventually secure their spots at the final tournament.
