Matchday two of the Euro 2024 group stage drew to a close on Saturday, with Portugal becoming the third team to officially book their place in the round of 16 with a 3-0 victory over Türkiye. Cristiano Ronaldo and Co will join Germany and Spain in the knockout rounds, although the identities of the 13 other qualifiers won’t be known until matchday three, which begins on Sunday (23 June).

Euro 2024: what games are on Sunday 23 June?

Saturday was our last three-game day of the tournament, and there is, in fact, only one time slot (3pm ET) in use on Sunday as Group A reaches its climax.

As mentioned, Germany are already through and will be looking to secure at least a point against Switzerland in Frankfurt to ensure they finish in top spot. Only a bizarre set of results would stop the Swiss, currently on four points, from joining their opponents in the last 16, although a draw would make sure they finish in second place and avoid a nervous wait.

Scotland and Hungary face each other in Stuttgart and know only a win will do if they are to have any chance of progressing. The Scots’ draw against Switzerland and negative goal difference means they will realistically do no better than finish third in the group if they win, but four points would likely be enough for them to be one of the four best third-placed teams.

After two defeats, the Hungarians can only get to three points, which means they will have less chance of going through if they finish third.

Group E

  • Switzerland - Germany (3pm ET, Frankfurt)
  • Scotland - Hungary (3pm ET, Stuttgart)
