Since Scotland and Germany kick started the tournament on 14 June, the action at Euro 2024 has been fast and frantic with several matches each and every day to keep us entertained.

But, we have some bad and good news... the bad is that we are on the cusp of two days with no games in Germany as the final group stage games are set to conclude today as teams in Groups E and F conclude their finals group matches today. The good news is after two days without any action, Saturday kickstarts the Round of 16 with Italy facing Switzerland in Berlin.

What we will also learn this evening upon the conclusion of Group F, is what four nations will progress as the best placed third sides and with that discover the full line-up for the Round of 16 games.

Wednesday, 26 June at Euro 2024

Group E: Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Belgium

The early action on Wednesday sees Slovakia face Romania in Frankfurt whilst Ukraine take on Belgium simultaneously in Stuttgart.

There is nothing to choose between all four sides with all teams on three points going into matchday three and any team in the group can still finish in any position from first to last in the standings. It is the only group at Euro 2024 where each team won a game and lost a game in the first two rounds.

One of Romania and Slovakia will be in the Round of 16, and a draw will advance both. If so, Romania will be in the top two because of a superior goal difference to Slovakia. Slovakia would be third, and among the four best third-place teams advancing.

However Romanian boss Edward Iordanescu has brushed aside the suggestion his team and Slovakia would play for a mutually beneficial draw in Wednesday’s final.

The winner of Belgium-Ukraine will also progress and a draw in this game would not suit Ukraine should Slovakia and Romania also tie given their poorer goal difference. In a nutshell, the group is wide open and anything can happen!

Group E schedule: Weds. 26 June 2024

Group F: Portugal, Türkiye, Georgia, Czechia

Portugal have already qualified as Group F winners and will face a 3rd placed side in the Round of 16 on 1 July in Frankfurt.

All other three teams can progress with Georgia, at least on paper having the toughest test in taking on Roberto Martinez’s side who impressed in their 3-0 win over Türkiye last Saturday with the Georgians needing to win in Gelsenkirchen today to advance.

In the other game, a draw would see Vincenzo Montella’s Turkish side through with Czechia also needing to win to ensure progression in the tournament. A draw would see the Czechs packing their bags irrespective of the score in the Georgia-Portugal contest.

Group F schedule: Weds. 26 June 2024

3pm ET: Georgia vs Portugal, Gelsenkirchen - Fox Sports 1, ViX

3pm ET: Slovakia vs Romania, Frankfurt - Fox Network, ViX
