The 29-year-old Saudi striker, who plays for Al-Hilal Saudi FC in the Saudi Pro League, scored the vital goal for his side in the early minutes of the second half to bring the Saudis level with the team that many have picked to win the entire tournament. It was in fact Al-Shehri’s 11th goal in his international career and will surely be one that he remembers for all time. Yet there was even more to come.
Salem Aldawasari shocks Argentina and the world
Clearly now in shock, one could see the tension in Argentina’s play, but little did they know it was about to get much worse. In the 53rd minute Saudi Arabia star Salem Aldawsari scored what has got to be considered a wonder goal to put his side 2-1 up over the tournament favorites. With a curling shot from the edge of the box, the winger sent Saudi fans into a frenzy, while Leo Messi and his teammates could only look on in disbelief.
