Why David Beckham had to fire Phil Neville from Inter Miami
It’s not been going well for the former Manchester United player and he leaves the team propping up the Eastern Conference of the MLS.
Following Inter Miami’s loss to New York RB at Lockhart Stadium, marking the completion of matchday 16 in Major League Soccer, the association between the renowned Manchester United legend and David Beckham’s team came to an end as he was dismissed.
Phil Neville leaves Inter Miami in the basement of the Eastern Conference with just 15 points; five wins, zero draws and 10 losses, in addition, with a goal difference of -5, therefore, the relationship was unsustainable. Javier Morales will take over as interim coach after serving on Neville’s assistant staff.

The reason for the decision by Beckham and others was simple down to poor performances, with Neville having recorded 36 wins, 11 draws and 43 losses, leaving a negative balance during his tenure on the bench of the Miami club.
Neville responded to the decision by thanking the club and wishing them well.
“I would like to thank the Inter Miami CF ownership group for their trust and making me a part of this project; the players and staff for their impressive commitment, dedication and hard work; and the fans for their unwavering support for the Club since day one. I’m grateful to have played a part in the growth of this Club and wish Inter Miami CF all the best in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, his friend and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham also commented: “Phil has made a real contribution to our club culture with his qualities as a leader and knowledge as a coach. Sometimes in this sport you have to make the toughest decisions and sadly we feel this is the right time to make a change.”
On Saturday 3 June Inter Miami will resume their season as they face D.C. United at DRV PNK Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and tickets can be purchased on InterMiamiCF.com.
