However, fans of domestic Mexican soccer were disappointed to see that Liga MX teams and its players were omitted with the league being one of the most popular in the global game. The reason behind the omission is simple and is centred on rights management.

eFootball x Liga MX deal

Back in February 2022, Liga MX president Mikel Arriola confirmed that the governing body responsible for both Mexican first and second divisions (Liga MX and Liga Expansion) had signed an exclusivity agreement with the Japanese company Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, in which the rights for the video game eFootball were sold to them.

Mexican soccer fans can take some solace in the fact that both men’s and women’s senior teams are available both bearing the new national team shield and new kits that will be used by Gerardo Martino’s team at next months Qatar World Cup.
