Update:

While you would expect some of the biggest names in show business to attend the World Cup final, Champions League final, or the Super Bowl, you might not imagine many A-listers showing up for an English Championship game between Swansea City and Preston North End on a cold Tuesday night in February. Snoop Dogg, however, is currently in Wales’ second biggest city to bust that theory.

From rap icon to soccer investor

In July 2025, the rapper followed in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham, Tom Brady at Birmingham, and LeBron James at Liverpool by becoming a co-owner and investor in Swansea City. The club, nicknamed The Swans, was relegated to the Championship, the English second tier, in 2018 after seven years in the Premier League.

Three months earlier, in April, Real Madrid legend and current AC Milan midfielder Luka Modric also became a minority owner of the Welsh club. TV personality Martha Stewart, a friend of Snoop’s, followed last December.

After Snoop Dogg’s involvement with Swansea was announced, he helped launch the club’s home jersey for the 2025-26 season. The Swans also revealed that a mural of the Californian had been completed inside the Swansea.com Stadium, their home ground.

Snoop Dogg told the Swansea City website: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.

The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.

“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club, and I look forward to getting to know all my YJBS.”

Snoop’s first visit to Swansea

The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” singer will now get the chance to see his mural in person for the very first time as he makes his maiden visit to Swansea for their home game against Preston on Tuesday.

To mark the occasion, Snoop has printed some “Make Some Noise” towels, as you do, which will be left on Swansea fans’ seats before kickoff.

Snoop Dogg is asking the Jack Army to join him in a pre-match towel twirl this evening,” Swansea posted on X, along with a video of Snoop demonstrating how to twirl a towel, just in case. “Fans are encouraged to be in their seats 20 minutes before kick-off, and to twirl the towels as Snoop walks on the pitch.”

We’ll see if that catches on...

Where Swansea stand in the Championship

Swansea are currently in 15th place in the 24-team Championship. With 13 games left to play, they are only six points off the playoff places. The final spot is currently occupied by Reynolds and McElhenney’s Wrexham, just ahead of Brady’s Birmingham.
