Why Vega and Alvarado didn’t train with Chivas
It was expected that the Mexican World Cup players in Qatar 2022 would report back to fully integrate into the preseason work, but this was not the case.
Alexis Vega and Roberto Alvarado were the two main absentees from Chivas training on Wednesday. The Mexican World Cup players in Qatar 2022 were expected to report back for duty in order to fully integrate themselves into the preseason work ahead of the 2023 Clausura tournament of Liga MX. But this didn’t happen.
Mexico’s Vega and Alvarado MIA
As expected, speculation immediately flared up, especially in the case of Vega, as the rumors of a possible departure have been strong for several weeks. However, the board of the club itself was quick to report what was happening. That was that both players received a couple more days of vacation, after their participation in the FIFA event. This means that both Vega and Alvarado have the commitment to report to Verde Valle on Friday, the same day the Rebaño Sagrado will debut in the Sky Cup, against Mazatlán, at the Jalisco Stadium, as part of the preparation for the next tournament of the Liga MX.
With this, the board of directors tried to put an end to the speculation over Vega. According to sources close to the leadership of the Guadalajara club, to date there has been no formal offers for the attacker.
European desires for Vega
It is openly known that the footballer’s desire is to hit the big time of the European leagues as soon as possible, taking advantage of the moment to grow both in a sporting sense and financially. However, the poor performance of the Mexican National Team in Qatar 2022 did not contribute to his demand.
The hope of Vega himself, and the people who represent him, was that a good result in the World Cup could open the doors of a club in Europe. But the Tricolor was eliminated in the first round for the first time in 44 years. The failure was enormous, Gerardo Martino departed, and now the chances of emigrating seem more challenging.
