Why was FIFA forced to delete a tweet making fun of Cristiano Ronaldo?
Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia has been linked to the Cristiano Ronaldo and will likely sign with them before the year is finished.
FIFA has removed two tweets from its account that seemed to make fun of Cristiano Ronaldo. After Argentina had been crowned champions of the FIFA World Cup, the tweets were sent out. Following the victory of Lionel Messi’s squad, one of the tweets said that the “GOAT debate,” which is an abbreviation for greatest of all time, has been resolved.
“The GOAT debate is settled. The ultimate prize is now part of the collection. The legacy is complete,” FIFA’s tweet read before it was removed. Instead, it opened the door for criticism from Ronaldo’s supporters and others.
The fact that Messi’s Instagram post celebrating Argentina’s victory in the World Cup received the most likes of any other post on the platform hints that social media users consider him to be the GOAT.
FIFA’s official account that entered the discussion was criticized for “officially” placing the Argentinian player over the Portuguese one.
Trying to compensate for their mistake
On the World Cup Twitter account, FIFA asked followers to give “Thumbs up if you truly loved the #FIFAWorldCup” beside a photo of Ronaldo pointing his finger upward.
Some fans, however, took offense, and the message was deleted shortly afterward.
What’s next for Cristiano Ronaldo
Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia has been linked to the forward, and he will likely sign with them before the year is through. The discussion between the two football players is certain to continue. Some argue that a World Cup with Argentina is not as difficult as winning a Euro Cup with Portugal.
Even if Ronaldo never wins the World Cup, he will go down in history as one of the game’s all-time greats.
