Why was Riyad Mahrez admitted to hospital in Saudi Arabia?
Al-Ahli winger Riyad Mahrez was rushed to hospital in Jeddah.
Al-Ahli player Riyad Mahrez was rushed to hospital in Jeddah over the weekend, according to reports in Saudi Arabia. The former Manchester City winger, who currently plies his trade for Al-Ahli, began to feel unwell during the night and was taken to hospital to avoid further complications.
Initial tests indicate that Mahrez suffered a problem related to food poisoning after eating fast food in one of the city’s restaurants. Alarm bells went off when the Saudi press published several images of the Algerian winger lying on a stretcher and receiving oxygen through a mask.
Mahrez recovers
Mahrez has since recovered and is playing for Al-Ahli against Al Taawoun today (Saturday).
