Sergio Busquets withdrawn early in Inter Miami’s friendly with Vissel Kobe

Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets was substituted after just 25 minutes in the club’s friendly with Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe on Wednesday.

The experienced Spanish player stayed down after being hit with a mistimed challenge midway through the first half in Tokyo, with the Miami medical team quickly on hand to help before he was replaced by Milan-born right-back Yannick Bright.

Bright replaces Busquets

The former Barcelona man sustained a boot to the upper ankle from centre-forward Yuya Osako and the game restarted with Inter Miami down to ten men, before Bright was introduced for Tata Martino’s side with the game still goalless.

Busquets was able to walk off the field of play after the challenge but it now remains to be seen if he will make a swift return to action with the MLS club, who may have decided that it was not worth running the risk of keeping him on the pitch in a friendly.
