Will Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández renew his contract with Barcelona?

Much has been said about the Catalan and a potential 2-year extension to his current deal, which appears to be on the way.

Xavi’s renewal as Barcelona manager is well on the way, as revealed by Sport, although it is not imminent. AS understands that the feelings between the club and manager are very good, and the negotiations are underway, but there are still plenty of i’s to be dotted and t’s to be crossed, which means that things are not finished and the OK from both sides is still to come.

The club are offering Xavi and his staff an extension of 2 more years, with the idea of ending the deal when Laporta’s term as President comes to and end. As things stand, it would mean both sides agree that taking Xavi’s deal further than 2026 is not necessary.

When will Xavi’s contract extension be announced?

There will also be an economic increase to Xavi’s deal, above all given the fact that the manager played a huge role in the deal to allow him to leave Al-Sadd and go to Barcelona, paying money from his own pocket to make sure the agreement was possible, even agreeing a wage cut. He wanted to help the club in a difficult economic moment, with COVID still on everyone’s minds, and bring them back to the top.

Xavi himself has always said that his renewal “won’t be a problem” and that he has a “great relationship” with club President, Joan Laporta. As a result, Xavi’s new contract extension should be announced in June. It would be, without a doubt, the best cover letter for a project that is a year old and has begun to reap rewards of the hard work over the season, with the LaLiga title and Super Cup already in their trophy cabinet.
