Will Gareth Bale play against Wayne Rooney’s DC United?
The Welshman and former Italian international were both sidelined over the weekend in LAFC’s 5-0 win over Charlotte.
Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini have made quite an impact with Los Angeles Football Club because the team remains undefeated when they are available. Last weekend both newcomers missed the 5-0 win over Charlotte at Banc of California stadium because they were listed as out due to load management.
Game day decision
This is a quick turnaround for LAFC because on Tuesday night they will host Wayne Rooney’s DC United at Banc of California stadium and Bale and Chiellini could be sidelined for the second consecutive game. The Los Angeles Football Club said that both players have been dealing with some aches and pains and could miss the matchup against the capital-based team.
“He [Bale] hasn’t been 100% and I think it is pretty normal. Some aches and pains in the middle of pre-season for a player, we still are with him, as well as Giorgio [Chiellini] they are both the same. So trying to accomplish or get your body in a position where you are able to play 90 minutes week-in and week-out in the middle of a season is difficult and sometimes there are mini setbacks,” said Steve Cherundolo after Monday’s practice.
Gareth Bale was training off to the side at the Los Angeles Football Club facility on Monday morning and he will be a game day decision. The Welshman has yet to start a game in MLS but in the four appearances he has made coming off the bench, Bale has scored two goals in 96 total minutes. On the other hand, Chiellini has the same amount of appearances as Bale, but the Italian has started in all four.
