Robert Lewandowski could make his Barcelona debut on Tuesday in the first friendly of the Liga club’s tour of the US. AS understands Barça’s fitness coaches plan to assess the player’s condition in Monday’s training session and if Lewandowski meets the requirements after completing his move from Bayern Munich, he could be handed a few minutes against Inter Miami. In the end, though, it will be largely the player’s decision: Lewandowski spent 12 hours in flight to join up with Barça’s squad in Miami and the Inter friendly may be a little too soon for the Poland captain.

Lewandowski’s official presentation to take place at Camp Nou

Monday will certainly be busy for the Polish striker. In the morning he will undergo an initial medical check-up, meaning he will miss the team’s morning session, while at lunchtime there will be a welcome ceremony for the 33-year-old. Barcelona have stressed this will not constitute Lewandowski’s official presentation, as the club want to unveil him to the Camp Nou fans at a large-scale event when back in Catalonia. In principle, this will take place at the beginning of August before the Trofeo Joan Gamper game against UNAM on 7 August.

Lewandowski could thus debut a little earlier than expected, given Barça’s initial plan was to hand him some pitch time against Real Madrid during the friendly Clásico in Las Vegas on 23 July. However, Lewandowski’s desire to pull on the famous Blaugrana shirt is so strong that his debut appearance could come as early as Tuesday against Inter Miami.
