Luciano Spalletti holds hero status in Naples after guiding Napoli to the Serie A title 33 years after their last league triumph.

And Spalletti has confirmed that he will be staying at the club. There were questions over his future, however, he has held ‘positive’ talks with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“We had a positive meeting with the president yesterday... the future is gonna be exciting, I’m sure of that,” Spalletti said in his press conference this weekend.

“They gave me the opportunity to work in a certain way, bringing in young players full of quality. There will be an important future, we can open a cycle with this team. It was a nice evening, the president always knows how to choose excellent wines... I know little about them. I said what I had to say and I’m satisfied,” he added.

Spalletti to stay

Spalletti’s current deal with the Italian champions runs until 2024, but the 64-year-old could now be set to stay until 2025 after clinching the league title.

Monza next for Napoli

Napoli play Monza in Serie A on Sunday. After 34 games, Spalletti’s side are sitting on 83 points, with a goal difference of +47.
