Will Mason Greenwood play international football again?
The Jamaica head coach has opened the door to Getafe forward Greenwood.
Mason Greenwood could have a new international opportunity after Jamaica head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson stated he would like to work with the Getafe player, adding he wants “the best talent” in his team.
Hallgrímsson believes that Greenwood “has the qualities to be valuable to Jamaica if he regains his fitness and his previous level of performance”.
Hallgrimsson, who coached surprise package Iceland to a quarter-final finish at Euro 2016, is aware of Greenwood’s legal troubles. “Of course, he brings some baggage with him,” he said.
Greenwood represented England
Greenwood has already represented England at international level. In 2020, when he was 18, he played 12 minutes under Gareth Southgate in a Nations League match against Iceland (1-0 win).
The forward has Jamaican and English nationality and having played just one game for England, he could play for the Caribbean country, as the rule states that a player can change national teams if they have played less than three international matches before their 21st birthday.
