Will Pulisic leave Chelsea? Who will he join? AC Milan are interested
AC Milan are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, who starred for the USMNT in this month’s CONCACAF Nations League finals.
The club future of the USMNT’s Europe-based stars is important to the country’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which the US will be co-hosting with Canada and Mexico. And, given that he is one of the national team’s leading lights, Christian Pulisic’s next step is of particular significance.
Pulisic at club crossroads after disappointing season
Pulisic, who shone in the USMNT’s semi-final win over Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League a week ago, is out to rekindle his club career, after a season that fell well short of expectations at Chelsea. The 24-year-old was hampered by Blues owner Todd Boehly’s refusal to let him leave, combined with a series of injuries and the instability in the dugout at Stamford Bridge.
Milan looking to take Chelsea man to San Siro
According to the Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan are preparing to bid for Pulisic services. The Rossoneri have been eyeing a move for the American for some weeks now, and could be about to table a formal offer for the player, who joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
As at Chelsea, Pulisic would face stiff competition for his place in the team in Milan. Most notably, the seven-time European Cup winners have winger Rafael Leão in their ranks. The skilful Portugal international, 24, is one of the brightest prospects in the European game.
Pulisic entering final year of Blues deal
Pulisic has a year left on his contract at Chelsea, so - unless he renews his deal - the Premier League club are under pressure to sell now or risk losing the player for free in 12 months’ time.
If Pulisic leaves West London, he appears likely to be one of several players to depart. Édouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovacic, Hackim Ziyech, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz are all also being tipped for summer exits from the six-time English champions.
