The Mo Salah era is about to come to an end at Anfield, and one of the former legends of the club has announced who he wants to see filling the shoes of Salah on the right wing. Jurgen Klopp has dubbed Yan Diomande as the heir to the Egyptian who only has a handful of matches left with the club.

Wonderkid from Leipzig

It’s only been two years since Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool after leading one of the most successful stints in club history. He won a Champions League and a Premier League with the Reds before departing Anfield at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

He is now working with Red Bull as their global head of soccer, which includes Diomande’s RB Leipzig, and has had an up close and personal view of the wingers ascension into one of the best players in the Bundesliga. The 19 year old has scored 10 goals and served seven assists in 26 appearances in the league.

It would be a bit of a double dip for Klopp who knows both clubs, and wants the best for his former and current employers. The teenage sensation from the Ivory Coast would cost Liverpool around $115 million this summer if the Reds take Klopp’s advice.

Expensive summer coming

The Egyptian made an official statement on his social media last week, stating he would be leaving at the end of the season. It brings an end to what was a legendary stint with the club in which he won just about every title to be won at Liverpool. Many of those titles were won with Klopp, and now his former manager says he has the perfect fit to fill the void Salah will leave in the summer.

There are other names that have been rumored to be the incumbent on the right side. Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao has been linked to a move in the summer, so too has PSG’s Bradley Gordon. Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon is on everyone’s list and should fetch a price tag even high than that of Diomande.

Leipzig would like to have their teenage sensation for one more year especially if they are able to qualify for Champions League, but with big money being thrown at them this summer they could succumb to the temptation. They are currently holding the final spot in the Bundesliga with a goal difference advantage over Hoffenheim.
