Update:

Gilberto Mora delivered a historic night on Thursday, leading Tijuana to the Apertura 2025 quarterfinals.

The young star stole the spotlight, scoring a crucial goal for Los Xolos as they secured a 3-1 victory over FC Juárez and punched their ticket to face Tigres in the next round.

A goal for the history books

Mora’s audacious Panenka finish from the penalty spot, which gave Tijuana a 2-1 lead on the hour mark, didn’t just seal the win. It etched his name into Liga MX history. With ice-cold composure, the teenager showed exactly why he’s considered one of Mexico’s brightest prospects.

That strike made Mora the youngest player ever to score in a Liga MX postseason match - just 17 years and 37 days old - surpassing none other than Rafael Márquez, who had held the record since the 1990s.

Mora beats Márquez mark by 250 days

Mora’s goal knocked Márquez down to second place; the legendary defender scored at 17 years and 287 days old during the Invierno ’96 tournament with Atlas.

Third on the list is César Villaluz, who found the net at 17 years and 289 days old for Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2006.
