Update:

The countdown is very much underway as the 2026 World Cup looms ever closer on the horizon.

Today (January 27), marks 500 days until the opening game of the expanded 48-team tournament which kicks-off at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

June 11 marks the first of 104 games across 16 different host cities with FIFA expecting more than five million fans to visit the three nations during the duration of the competition.

At present no teams have officially qualified for the tournament (apart from the three host ations) with all nations currently undergoing or primed to start the qualification process with the group stage draw for the 48 qualified teams tentatively set for December 2025.

Ticket details too will be released at a later date as the 16 host cities ramp up preparation for the 39 day ‘soccer fest’ next year which will culminate with the final game in New York/New Jersey on July 19.
