As the 2026 World Cup approaches, the two toughest tournament tune-ups are now behind Colombia. After facing Croatia and France, Néstor Lorenzo’s men are heading into the home stretch before the finals in North America, where they kick off their campaign on June 17.
Prior to their World Cup opener against Uzbekistan, Los Cafeteros will play two more friendlies to wrap up their preparations.
Despite Lorenzo’s frustration with the short turnaround between last week’s Croatia and France games - both of which ended in defeat - the Colombia boss emphasized the value of facing top‑tier opponents. Now, the team’s remaining friendlies will come against nations that pose a theoretically lower level of difficulty - but they’ll still be important for fine‑tuning details ahead of the World Cup.
Colombia’s pre-World Cup schedule - games, dates, times:
Earlier this month, the Colombian Soccer Federation confirmed that the team will play its final pre-World Cup home game against Costa Rica, a side now coached by Argentine manager Fernando Batista.
The match will be held on May 29 at El Campín in Bogotá, with the kickoff time still to be confirmed. Colombia and Costa Rica have met 14 times previously; the South Americans comfortably lead the series, having lost only three times to Los Ticos.
On June 7, ten days before its World Cup opener, Colombia then faces Jordan in its final tune-up in San Diego, California. The friendly’s start time is also TBC.
The choice of opponent is tied to Colombia’s first group‑stage rival, Uzbekistan - another team from the Asian Football Confederation. This will be Colombia and Jordan’s second meeting. The first came ahead of Brazil 2014 in a warm‑up played in Argentina, where the Colombians won 3-0.

Colombia, whose base camp will be in Guadalajara, will play its first two 2026 World Cup games on Mexican soil. Competing at the FIFA tournament for the seventh time, Los Cafeteros will then travel to the U.S. to round off its Group K fixtures.
